Todd Usen

Todd Usen is an accomplished and seasoned leader with more than 25 years of medical device and healthcare experience, and a proven track record of leading, developing and executing on commercialization strategies and driving market development initiatives for profitable growth. He joined Activ Surgical in January 2019 after serving as the President of the Medical Systems Group at Olympus Corporation of the Americas, where he helped lead the group’s expansion from six medical divisions to 11. Prior to joining the Olympus Corporation, Todd held the position of President, Orthopedics, at Smith and Nephew, overseeing the Total Joint, Sports Medicine and Trauma divisions. He held several other vital positions for Smith and Nephew including Senior Vice President and General Manager, Joint Reconstruction; Senior Vice President, Sports Medicine; and Senior Vice President, Endoscopy. Prior to Smith and Nephew, Todd worked for Boston Scientific as the Vice President of Sales for the Neurovascular division, Director of Endoscopy Sales, and Global Manager of Field Development. He holds a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Business and did his M.B.A. work at Pepperdine University.

Dr. Peter Kim

Dr. Kim, a world-renowned surgeon and medical technologist, is a founder of Activ Surgical and the inventor of its technology, which he developed over seven years with more than $13 million in non-dilutive grant funding while leading the Shaikh Institute at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Previously, he served as Associate Surgeon-in-Chief of the Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Center for Surgical Care at Children’s National. He was also the lead for the FDA funded National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation (NCC-PDI). Dr. Kim joined Children’s National from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, a national and international leading institution in pediatric research and care. Dr. Kim received his medical training, including the distinction of Master of Surgery, at McGill University. He completed his surgical residency training at the University of Toronto as well as his fellowship in pediatric surgery at the University’s Hospital for Sick Children.

Tom Calef

Mr. Calef is a highly accomplished medical roboticist and seasoned engineering leader who has delivered breakthrough innovation in surgical robotics. Previously, he was the Director of Advanced Robotics at Medrobotics, where he led the development and release of the first flexible surgical robotics platform, grew the engineering team from two to 50 people, and guided numerous surgical robotics products through 510k clearance. He holds both a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.

Manisha Shah-Bugaj

Manisha Shah-Bugaj is Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Activ Surgical. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing all business operations for the company, including oversight of the impending commercialization of its ActivSight TM enhanced visualization imaging module, and the implementation of its surgical visualization technology at established pilot hospital sites in 2022.

Shah-Bugaj has a long-standing track record as a successful global medtech executive, key influencer and transformational leader, both globally and domestically, with a core strength in developing and protecting team culture founded in transparency,
recognition, and acknowledgement of areas of improvement, with identified countermeasures. Prior to joining Activ Surgical, she served as the Global General Manager and Vice President of Gynecology at Olympus where she led the global profit and loss, product portfolio, and strategy for the business. She brings over 20 years of experience including building and implementing corporate business plans, directing regional and global businesses aligned to financial and operational targets, hiring, and establishing new teams, and managing product portfolios.

Heather Mannila

Ms. Mannila is an accomplished finance leader with a diverse background and over 20 years of experience focused on accounting, financial planning and analysis, sales operations and manufacturing in the medical device industry.  She is known for her exceptional leadership building high performance finance teams resulting in improved business partnerships and financial results.  Ms. Mannila has particular focus supporting growth oriented commercial organizations in both the public and private sectors.  Most recently, she served as Controller for the North American Implants and Wellspect Healthcare Divisions at Dentsply Sirona.  She holds a B.S in Business Administration from Bryant University.

Mark Johnson

Mark Johnson is a high impact professional with 20+ years of progressive leadership experience and a performance record of developing sound strategic plans, executing top priorities, and delivering exceptional results. He has held leadership positions at Stryker, Smith & Nephew, Elekta and most recently Hologic where he specialized in Sales Transformation, P&L Management, Strategic Planning, Revenue/Profitability Growth, Talent Selection/Development, Sales Targeting/Optimization, Cross-Functional Leadership, Culture Development, and Key Account Management.

Richard A. Stamm

Rich has practiced corporate and securities law for 30 years, primarily advising business executives and corporate boards as General Counsel. Rich started his career with the law firm Dechert, LLP and then moved in-house to Ocean Spray Cranberries where, as General Counsel, he provided thought leadership and strategic guidance on the full range of legal issues faced by a global branded company. Following Ocean Spray, Rich joined the Ag Tech start-up Agrify Corporation as its General Counsel and helped navigate the Company through the legal complexities of preparing for its initial public offering. Most recently, Rich maintained his own legal and consulting firm, leveraging his practical business law and corporate governance expertise to advise a variety of businesses and their leaders. While General Counsel by title, at his core, Rich considers himself a teacher, and uses this perspective to arm business colleagues with the insight and tools they need to identify and mitigate legal risks across the enterprise. Rich has a degree in Business Economics from Brown University (1989) and graduated first in his class from the University of Connecticut School of Law (1992).
